Next Stop: Canada. Finally!

12

Canada is on my bucket list since ages. Actually I don’t know much about Canada, but I’ve learned a lot from How I Met Your Mother. Canada seems to be beautiful. Extremely beautiful. And the people there are the nicest in the world, they say. Reasons enough for me to visit Canada. And when Canada is calling, you can’t say no.

What am I going to do in Canada?

I will travel with nine other bloggers and photographers from Halifax to Toronto. By VIA Rail. The first few days we’re going to explore Halifax and its environs, before our trip (via rail) will lead us to Moncton. There I’m really looking forward to see Hopewell Rocks. After this we will travel to Montréal. And on day number ten we will reach Toronto. On the first weekend of June the biggest international travel bloggers conference TBEX is going to happen there. Or as I like to call it: a family reunion deluxe.

As you can see on the graphics our trip is only one of three trips through Canada, which all lead to Toronto. Besides our group there are two more blogger groups who are going to explore Canada. If you wan’t to know what the three groups are going to see and do there are different opportunities: Follow the hashtag #ExploreCanada or follow the Tumblr canadakeepexploring.tumblr.com and for sure I will keep you updated via Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and for sure here on the blog.

For all of you living in the USA, UK or Canada, here’s a cool contest where you can win an awesome trip to Canada: http://canadakeepexploring.tumblr.com/contest-details

And don’t miss to watch my official #ExploreCanada video:

Any tips what I shouldn’t miss on this trip? Any insider tips for Halifax, Moncton, Montréal or Toronto? Leave them in the comments! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

And now I probably should start packing my bags… I’m leaving TOMORROW!

Disclaimer: I’m invited on this trip by the Canadian Tourism Commission.

Hi, I'm Yvonne. Travel addict. Guilty as charged. Right now I'm probably falling off a camel somewhere in a desert, getting a new tattoo from a monk in Thailand or am carrying my luggage through a river in the jungle. But just as well I could be sitting on my sofa in Berlin, in my pyjamas. Good girls to to heaven, bad girls go everywhere. Everywhere sounds much more promising. So be travelous and follow me!

  1. Yay! Welcome to my home! 🙂

Halifax is one of my favourite Canadian cities, it is so beautiful. And I’ll be looking for your Montreal tips as we are heading there for the first time after TBEX.

    Enjoy! See you soon!

  3. We lived in Toronto for 5 years. We recommend going to the Bluffs, swimming in Lake Ontario, canoe to Center Island and try food from the various neighborhoods, including Little Italy, Little India, Chinatown etc. Don’t miss a visit to High Park, which is beautiful in every season.

    Enjoy your trip! 🙂

  4. Looking forward to meeting you on Sunday!

As for your trip from Moncton, all the best. Travel by rail in Canada is basically ‘Nice city’ followed by 3 days of BORING then ‘Nice City’.

In the Toronto area, they typcial tourist trap is the CN tower, however you should get to niagara falls if you can. If you want to experience Canadian wilderness, find a way to travel about 3-4 hours north of toronto towards and past Huntsvill. It’s that fast to get to the real wilderness of Canada :).
