Here are some fun facts about cycling in the Netherlands&nbsp;and Amsterdam Bikes you might not know!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1 &#8211; Amsterdam Central Station has two bike garages that are underwater!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The garages opened in January and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justtravelous.com\/en\/best-places-to-travel-in-february\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"15162\">February <\/a>2023 and have spots for 11,000 bicycles! There are more bikes than people in the Netherlands!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are approximately <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amsterdamtips.com\/cycling-in-amsterdam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">23 million bikes <\/a>and 17 million people, so about 1.33 bikes per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3 &#8211; In just Amsterdam, the Amsterdam bike path&#8217;s total length is over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amsterdamtips.com\/cycling-in-amsterdam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">500 kilometers<\/a> (320 miles).<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4 &#8211; In 2022, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rijksoverheid.nl\/ministeries\/ministerie-van-infrastructuur-en-waterstaat\/nieuws\/2022\/11\/14\/miljardeninvesteringen-voor-bereikbaarheid-woonwijken-in-heel-nederland\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dutch Government announced<\/a> a \u20ac780 million investment in cycling infrastructure.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6 &#8211; The Netherlands has been the world&#8217;s leading cycling nation since<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/cities\/2015\/may\/05\/amsterdam-bicycle-capital-world-transport-cycling-kindermoord\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> about 1912<\/a>.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7 &#8211; Thousands of bicycles end up in the canals every year. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The city has a barge with a giant magnetic arm to pull the bicycles from the bottom of the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"1920\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1080 \/ 1920;\" width=\"1080\" controls src=\"https:\/\/www.justtravelous.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/IMG_1979.mov\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8 &#8211; Utrecht holds the world&#8217;s largest bike garage with over <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/advocacy\/this-is-the-worlds-biggest-bike-parking-garage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">12,500 bike spaces!<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The garage is connected to Utrecht Central Station and is split up into three levels!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9 &#8211; It was not until the 1970s, that a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/cities\/2015\/may\/05\/amsterdam-bicycle-capital-world-transport-cycling-kindermoord\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> popular movement <\/a>rose against car-oriented city patterns due to a large amount of cyclist deaths. <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Utrecht shown below looks completely different with highways running right through the city where canals now flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">10 &#8211;
