Car sharing Amsterdam is expanding rapidly, with over 3,250 shared cars available<\/a> across Amsterdam alone. Car Sharing allows you to unlock and rent a car with an app on your phone. It provides mobility with the touch of a button. After six years in the Netherlands, I have tried all the car share options in Amsterdam. Here are my Best Car Sharing Amsterdam rankings.<\/p>\n\n\n

Car Sharing Amsterdam<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First, what is car sharing? Car sharing is a rental car that you can unlock effortlessly with your smartphone whenever you need one. You only pay for what you drive. Charging or fueling is included. It is a cheaper and greener alternative to owning a car. They are everywhere throughout the Netherlands, making them a great alternative to owning a car and giving you added mobility without the cost of owning a car. They are also cheaper than an Uber, so I use them often in my weekly life. I highly recommend car sharing Amsterdam; here is my comparison of the options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main differences between the options are price and whether you want to go on a round-trip journey or one-way. Some companies have shared cars with or without a fixed parking place. Cars with a fixed parking place must be returned to the same place or zone (round-trip cars). Free-floating cars can be parked and left anywhere within the service area without charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MyWheels – Best Car Sharing Amsterdam for round-trip journeys<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

MyWheels <\/a>is my favorite carshare program in the Netherlands. They handle everything from maintenance to insurance. Their app is great, and they have cars with fixed parking spaces right in front of my apartment. If I am going on a large grocery trip, Ikea visit, taking my pet <\/a>to the park, date night,<\/a> or beach day trip, I always pick MyWheels because they have the best pricing for round-trip journeys. Within a minute, I can reserve, unlock, and start my journey to my destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MyWheels cars have a fixed parking space or zone space. With a fixed parking space, you pick up and drop off the car in the same space. This is very helpful as it is not always easy to find parking in the city. For a zone space, the car does not have its own parking space; instead, it can be parked in the blue-marked zone. You can find this zone in your booking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ShareNow – Best Car Sharing Amsterdam for One-way quick trips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

ShareNow<\/a> is the best option for quick one-way trips within Amsterdam since there is a large radius of free parking anywhere in Amsterdam. You can unlock the car near your house and leave it anywhere in the city. It is cheaper than taking an Uber, so I often drive to my destination to go out for the evening and then take an Uber home at the end of the night. I also use it as a quick choice if I am running late for something like padel<\/a> or pilates<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is excellent for a quick one-way trip. It is more expensive than MyWheels for long trips, so I only use it if I need a one-way journey. I often use both apps depending on the nature of the trip. ShareNow is also an international company, so it operates in other European cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greenwheels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Greenwheels is very similar to MyWheels, and I found it more expensive when I did the price comparison, and they did not have cars as close to my apartment. I would recommend MyWheels over GreenWheels. It is a Dutch company with many locations across the Netherlands. If you live in a small town, it might be worth checking if they have better availability in your city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sixt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sixt Share is the big car rental response to losing their market share to the smaller car share companies. Their app is good just find their pricing to be higher on average then MyWheels so I still with MyWheels as a option as they have more cars for cheaper pricing.
