Amsterdam Centrum & Jordaan Comedy Clubs
Boom Chicago – Best Improv
A comedy giant in the city, Boom Chicago has been commanding the comedy circuit since 1993. Hosting the likes of Seth Myers, Jordan Peele, Amber Ruffin, and Jason Sudeikis – they have perfected the act. Offering a wide range of English-speaking evenings, they have something for everyone – stand-up comedy nights, Roast sessions, Improv evenings, Powerpoint nights, LGBTQ+ evenings – their agenda is endless, and there is something to offer most evenings. I love it as a date night spot.
Alongside making you laugh through the week, they host an annual Boom Chicago Comedy Festival. Taking over a full weekend with acts ranging across the board. One to add to your summer festival schedule.
In addition to entertaining you, they are willing to teach you. You can join the Boom Chicago Academy, where they run workshops across the comedy spectrum to help you let out your internal comedian.

Comedy Café
A vibrant spot 10 minutes walk from Central station, The Comedy Cafe is is tucked away but packs a lot. Offering nights for Dutch and English speakers, it mixes local and international comedians – I had the privilege of seeing Gianmarco Soresi there after years of watching his Comedy online. Hosting greats such as Phill Jupitus, Ardal O’Hanlon, Stephen K. Amos, Gina Yashere, Tom Rhodes, and many more.
It is a cozy little space; you feel close to the stage and the jokes. It also has a great range of drinks and snacks, partnering for comedy dinner deals with nearby Nomad, regularly hosting ‘Cocktails and Comedy’ nights (EN / NL), Open Mic Nights, and Comedy Masters.

The Comedy Embassy
The Comedy Embassy hosts stand-up shows every Fridays & Saturdays at Boom Chicago. Every week, you get a mix of the best English language comedians based in the Netherlands, visiting international stars, social media celebrities, and hysterical up and comers, about to break through. Book your Comedy Embassy Stand-up Tickets.
Comedytrain
Comedytrain is one of the longest-running stand-up comedy organizations in Amsterdam, touring different venues around the city rather than operating out of a single fixed club. It’s a genuine local institution — check their site for the current schedule and venue for the week, since location changes.
Amsterdam Oost Comedy Clubs
Mezrab
Located at Veemkade 576, Mezrab is an independent cultural hub. The venue hosts “The Original Mezrab Comedy Night” (curated by Michael Jäger) every first Saturday of the month, and “The Alt Mezrab Comedy Night” (hosted by Lara Ricote) every third Saturday. For emerging talent, they run a strict new-material “Mezrab Comedy Open Mic” every second and fourth Monday. General entry relies on donations, but Saturday comedy events have strictly limited seating and require immediate booking. Check the Mezrab schedule for specific event dates.
Amsterdam Noord Comedy Clubs
Clink Comedy Club
Over the river and to the Nord, you will find Clink Comedy Club. As Nord continues to develop and grow into the new trendy place to be, this spot is making its mark with its All-Star team. Alongside this they regularly host stand up guests from out of town – the likes of Andy Haynes, J.F Harris, Tadiwa Mahlunge and Ram Arangi in the last year alone. A great catch to this comedy clubs Amsterdam is it is part of the Clink Hostel location, meaning there is a bar and hostel in the same location. You never need to leave. It is our favorite hostel in the city.
De Pijp Comedy Clubs
Dopamine Comedy Club (Cafe de Plakhoek)
Dopamine Comedy Club is for you if you want a more informal and relaxed setting. Set up in Café de Plakhoek, there is no stage, no lights or flash, but it is a cool little space where you can see some great little nights – Comedy in a brown café style. Hosting regular English-speaking nights – Every Tuesday and Thursday, as well as some non-English evenings – a monthly Hindi Comedy night on the last Thursday of each month.
Captive Audience Comedy (Vice Versa)
A trendy indie comedy clubs Amsterdam spot located on the edge of De Pijp, Captive Audience Comedy is a secret little space. They host several events throughout the month, not exclusive to Comedy, but their comedy nights are loved and great. It’s a spot that offers excellent cocktails, a fantastic bar dog, a welcoming vibe and a number of comedy shows to join – Every Wednesday and Saturday (all in English).
Late-Night Transit & Next-Day Recovery
Bypass limited night trams or expensive late night ubers after a late show. Reserve a car share through MyWheels car (Comfort tier: €3.22/hr) to navigate home efficiently. The following morning, indulge in a excellent brunch. Read our guide to the Best Breakfast in Amsterdam to find recovery brunch near you.
